Equestrian

For years I obsessed over getting on a horse but fear and a few petty obstacles have prevented me. This past weekend I was blessed with the opportunity, in Yosemite nonetheless. Without hesitation, I took advantage of it! To make a long story short, I rode a horse from the bottom of the valley up to a 1500-ft elevation, passing rivers & waterfalls & steep cliffs along the way. The whole experience of riding a horse far exceeded my expectations. It was fun, interesting, spiritual, and unforgettable. As a result, I may have just picked up a new & potentially expensive hobby! I don't intend to end my obsession with horses with this experience. If anything, the ride in Yosemite only heightened my interest in riding even more. In fact, since I left Yosemite on Sunday, I have been thinking about the horse I was on. His name is Felix. And I truly feel that Felix and I were quite a perfect match as we bonded instantly. I also felt that he was protective of me during our trek up and down the mountains. I think he sensed that I was a bit nervous being that it was my first time. Felix reacted to my nerves by being gentle, obedient and careful while he carried me on his back. I miss him so much. I can't wait to see him again during my next trip to Yosemite.
