Hearst Castle

It may come as a surprise to some but there really is a castle in California. And no, it's not in Hollywood, silly! Perched on a mountaintop in the coastal town of San Simeon, Hearst Castle demands everyone's attention. Inspired by his travels to Europe, Hearst Castle was conceptualized by media & publishing mammoth, Mr. William Randolph Hearst. Upon his death, the entire estate was bequeathed to the State of California.

If you're looking for a reasonably-priced weekend getaway, drive down to the Central Coast and stay in one of the hotels that overlook the Pacific Ocean. During the day, take a tour inside the Hearst Castle. It's a very romantic & relaxing way to spend the weekend. And I can vouch for that!
