Château de Versailles

Long before Imelda...
...and before Eva Peron,
there was Marie Antoinette, the original material girl.
This was her residence.

Excess does not even begin to describe this.


The former Queen of France was condemned to death for treason on October 15, 1793. Emaciated and in shackles, she was paraded through the streets of Paris. She was later beheaded. Her last words were, "Pardonnez-moi, monsieur," (Monsieur, I ask your pardon) spoken after she had accidentally stepped on the executioner's foot.
